ADVOCACY – As the official voice of parents in parish schools of the Diocese, and through the formal association with the Council of Catholic School Parents, the Parent Assembly is active in engaging with state and federal politicians on issues that affect parents and their children’s education. Recent successful parent activities have included seatbelts on school buses, transport subsidies and bus passes, and input to the formation of a national curriculum. The Parent Assembly is regularly invited by the Catholic Schools Office for nominations to its Committees and Working Parties.

Since its beginning in 1995, the Parent Assembly has been involved in the following areas:

  • Informing parents of funding and curriculum issues
  • Coordinating diocesan initiatives at election times
  • Representing parent’s voice to diocesan leaders
  • Membership of Catholic Education Office advisory groups
  • Participation in the N.S.W. Council of Catholic School Parents
